As a health care attorney for the firm, Janet G. Roberts represents health care providers, physician groups, and their insurance carriers in medical malpractice defense (in both pre-suit and litigation), and in professional licensure investigations and disciplinary processes, including administrative hearings and appeals, regulatory matters and litigation.   Ms. Roberts also represents physicians and other health care providers in defense of Medicare and Medicaid audits and investigations.

Ms. Roberts previously worked many years in the computer mainframe hardware and software industries with NCR Corp., Texas Instruments, Applied Data Research and Higher Order Software.  With Higher Order Software, Ms. Roberts worked with Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), military, NASA and other space contractors.   After receiving her Juris Doctorate (J.D.), Ms. Roberts practiced law for a prominent plaintiffs’ personal injury law firm in Dallas, Texas in their products liability department for several years.  Upon moving to Florida, Ms. Roberts formed her own firm, representing plaintiffs in products liability litigation, for seven years.  Ms. Roberts then joined the State Attorney’s Office as an Assistant State Attorney in the 17th Judicial Circuit, as a prosecutor.  In that capacity, Ms. Roberts prosecuted cases for 18 years at all level of felonies, including murder cases.  Throughout her 18 year career, Ms. Roberts practiced in multiple sections in the State Attorney’ Office, which included the misdemeanor, juvenile, felony, 10-20-Life special prosecutions section, and in post-conviction appeals.  Ms. Roberts also was a supervising prosecutor and a Diversion Coordinator in the Juvenile section.


Ms. Roberts received her B.A. in economics from The University of Texas at Austin, Texas.  She earned her Juris Doctorate (J.D.) from the University of Houston Law Center, where she was an Associate Justice on the Honor Court Board, and an Associate Justice on the Board of Advocates.  Ms. Roberts was also inducted into the Phi Delta Phi scholastic fraternity.

Membership & Associations:

Ms. Roberts is a member of the Florida Bar, the Health Law Section of the Florida Bar, and the Administrative Law section of the Florida Bar.  Ms. Roberts is also a member of the Texas Bar (inactive).  She is admitted to practice in the United State District Court for the Northern District of Texas.  Ms. Roberts was an elected pupil of the Patrick E. Higgenbotham Inn of Court LVI of Dallas (The American Inns of Court Foundation, by limited nomination only by preeminent member lawyers in Dallas).  Ms. Roberts was elected to and briefly served on the Board of Directors for the Dallas Trial Lawyers Association before moving to Florida.  Ms. Roberts is a past member of the American Trial Lawyers Association (ATLA) and Texas Trial Lawyers Association (TTLA).
